Haiti- Post earthquake distribution

April 28, 2011

April 14th- April 20th, Crocs partnered with organizations in Haiti to distribute shoes to and support the people who were affected by the earthquake. The first event kicked off in Leogane, Haiti where Crocs Cares(sm) was a sponsor for All Hands Volunteers’ Vini Jwe, or “come play” soccer tournament. For this National Volunteer Week, All Hands re-built the soccer field and partnered with non-profit, GOALS. This week we  celebrated its completion with a tournament and provide a year-long GOALS program promoting community involvement and environmental work. Crocs provided shoes to all of the soccer players involved in the tournament and to kids living in that community.

Crocs donated around 10,000 pairs of shoes to long time partner, Unicef, after the earthquake hit in Haiti. These shoes were distributed to children throughout Port Au Prince who are living in Displaced Person’s Camps, schools, Child Protection locations (Child Friendly Spaces) and Residential Care units. In Haiti this week we donated hundreds of these shoes to children living in the displaced persons camp outside of Port Au Prince. Crocs Cares program manager Melissa, states:”We donate shoes in order to provide protection for the these kids’ feet and to those children who may never be able to acquire a new pair of shoes. When you hand these children a new pair of brightly colored shoes you see the excitement in their faces and their eyes light up. I even saw shoes on kids that we took to Haiti 5 years ago!”
