New Years Eve, Always an Occasion to Dress Up!

December 30, 2011

One of my favorite “dress up” accessories is a shrug or bolero jacket.
Anything lacy or sparkly will always add a touch of celebration style to your outfit!
They work perfectly with strapless and sleeveless dresses or smart pants and sleek, sexy tops.
Not only adding style they keep your shoulders covered, warm and cozy.

High heels are a must for New Years Eve, but you don’t want to compromise your style so YOU by crocs are perfect! They will keep you on the dance floor with a big smile.

Personally I am excited for 2012 and can’t wait for the NEW you by crocs styles coming in February.
Keep an eye out for the new products that will range from flip flops to 4” platform sandals!
Something to look forward to ☺

Have a great New Year’s Eve and a great start to 2012…
Cheers and Happy New Year!

Did you know there is a Grammy Museum in Downtown LA?

November 28, 2011

Last night I was among a select few invited to attend a private performance by John Legend at The Grammy Museum in Downtown LA!! How amazing!!

I arrived and was taken to the rooftop by elevator. It was a beautiful balmy night with all the lights of Downtown shining all around. I approached the stage, not knowing what to expect and there I was standing 10 feet away from recording artist John Legend playing a grand piano and crooning as only he can croon!!

It was such an intimate crowd and the sound system was spectacular.

I have been to the Grammy Museum before and it is a great venue for any music lover.

Over 5 floors there are fabulous displays showing the history of music throughout the decades and all the Grammy highlights.

I had to park and walk so my Exitosa boots were perfect!

If you are ever in LA I would highly recommend it.

Cheers and have a great week!

Cute boots for the Winter Blues

October 18, 2011

The weather is changing and so is your wardrobe. The seasonal transition means polishing off your boots!

The Avalita “Shootie” (a cross between a shoe and a boot) is perfect for those breezy days when you need a lift. Glide through your day in this sassy style, perfect with leggings or paired with a dress.

Of course the new wedge boots – the Exitosa is another favorite as the platform wedge means stability and height! And we all love that!

For those of you not so keen on heels, the Liddles boot is a classic Riding Boot. I like to wear mine with skinny jeans. Feeling cosy and warm in the colder months helps to celebrate the beauty of the seasons and makes getting dressed easy!

A good pair of boots is hard to beat and a must have item for cooler climates.

Cheers and have a great week! Always smiling :)

Sexy Heels!

September 15, 2011

Fall 2011 sees the highest heels we have ever had the pleasure to make here at YOU by crocs!

The Mazzita is so fun and sexy. I am so excited about the leopard print leather because it oozes fashion for me! Wear them with a pair of jeans or some sleek black tailored pants and you’ll be strutting in comfort and style. You can always use pop colors with leopard print – anything bold and bright paired with these heels makes a statement. The fun thing about animal print is it never goes out of fashion, it will be in your wardrobe forever.

The black suede option is classic and elegant and goes with everything.

We’re working on the new styles for Fall 2012 and I am already excited about the divineness we are creating for YOU! The process to create the line takes over 12 months and sometimes it is hard to have to wait so long to see the finished product… But somehow it is always worth it!

Cheers and have a great week!

Always smiling :)

LACMA – Tim Burton

July 8, 2011

Last weekend I had friends from Sydney in town so we went to the LACMA and visited the Tim Burton exhibition.

In order to be prepared for the day’s activities – which also included visiting the La Brea Tar Pits – I wore my Gold Tress flip flops and felt stylish and comfortable in my flats. To keep the feminine feel I fashioned a cute Betsey Johnson ensemble; a colorful printed jersey dress with a short cropped velvet hoodie with lace puff sleeves. Even if you are comfortable you can still look like a fashionista!

The Tim Burton exhibition is amazing, almost overwhelming. There is so much of his fabulous work on display. I saw the exhibition for the first time in NYC at the MOMA and knew my friends would love to experience his eccentricity and talent first hand. It did not disappoint!

I love the lamp posts in the forecourt of the LACMA. They provide depth and perspective to the grounds of the museum. Simple and clever. Lots of people were taking photos by the lamp posts so I thought that should be my Blog post picture too.

It is always inspiring to be amongst art and creativity. It is a wonderful way to get inspired and use it to influence my work with YOU by crocs.

It was my first time at the LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits and I am always fascinated to discover new parts of LA I am unfamiliar with.

After the museum we went to Pink’s Hotdog stand and I watched my friends eat the famous dogs! I am a vegetarian, so not my cup of tea!

Keep discovering new and interesting places, people and things!

Cheers and have a great week.

Always smiling :)

Springtime in LA

June 22, 2011

Memorial Day weekend I was in Santa Monica at the Third Street Promenade Crocs store talking to the girls on the street…

I was wearing the Lauralou wedge sandals which are fun and funky and the flexibility means they move with you and keep you supported.
It’s always fun to see the fascination on women’s faces when I say “these are crocs! – YOU by crocs!”
It’s a great way to start a conversation!

I love Spring! I love all the colors, seeing all the blossoms blooming and the fabulous colorful flowers everywhere. That was the great thing about being in The Netherlands during Tulip season!

Every Spring I like to do a Spring Clean of my wardrobe and take my less loved items to the good will to pass them on for someone else to love.
I try to be strict so when I buy something new I give up something old.
I am not a hoarder and never shop frivolously if I can help it. Purposeful shopping always works better, when you know you need something. Although window shopping is often unplanned I always think if you see something you LOVE and it fits and is quality material it is a good investment.

Add some color to your wardrobe and brighten up your day!

Always smiling ☺

Cruising Around LA in my Thunderbird

May 27, 2011

A trip to FIDM to discover more about the College and their Footwear Design Program…

One thing I like about fashion is you can mix and match and put an outfit together from old and new.

I tend to go for “matching” tones, but love a pop of color to brighten up my look!

I went to visit FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) in Downtown Los Angeles today and I wore some fabulous shiny black silk/cotton cargo pants with pockets and zips on the legs and ties at the ankles. I wore my YOU by crocs Grey Larasita Ruffled Mary Janes – high heels of course (COMING SOON to www.youbycrocs.com and select Crocs Retail Stores!!) and a draped pink t under my grey shiny jacket.

Comfortable and cute – perfect for the fabulous FIDM experience.

I was curious to check out their Footwear Design Program and understand how the students work on their various “competition” projects because I had seen the Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers and thought it was a fantastic project.

To check out FIDM and the Footwear Design Program go to: http://fidm.edu/

I met the Program Director of Footwear Design and had a visit of the facilities including the amazing resource library.

All in all a great day in comfortable heels!

Always smiling :)

Queen’s Day in Amsterdam!

May 9, 2011

This is a national celebration in the Netherlands every year on April 29th to commemorate the Queen’s Birthday. A million visitors arrive in Amsterdam for this fabulous day of street festivities, dancing and singing and all sorts of crazy fun!

Everyone wears the national colour ORANGE! Not my favourite colour by any means, so I was fortunate enough to be given an Orange Lei to wear around my neck so I fit in with the thousands of people there to partake. To ensure even more than my regular all day comfort with my YOU by crocs I left them at home and chose to wear my Crocs Melbourne’s in Hot Pink which I love!

We walked and walked for miles and miles and hours and hours stopping at the many “party” stations with stages, DJ’s, dancing, games, flea markets, it was an endless feast for the eyes and ears. There were characters left and right with people from all walks of life and nationalities from across the globe.

Being an avid recycler I had one water bottle for the entire day and refilled it at various stops along the way.

This was a dress down casual day for me but the Hot Pink Crocs and the Orange Lei meant my style still had an edge and pairing it with my tailored denim jacket meant I stayed warm and cool at the same time!

Happy Queen’s Day :)

Always smiling!

YOU by crocs at Mark Ruffalo’s Directorial Debut Afterparty in LA

April 29, 2011

I moved to Los Angeles 2 years ago and being from Sydney, Australia it suits me more than Boulder, Colorado (Crocs HQ is based outside Boulder, Colorado and I lived there for 2 years before LA.) The ocean and the city is where it is at for me! It makes me feel happy to be by the sea. I lived at Manly Beach in Sydney for years.

The other upside to LA is the celebrity events.

YOU by crocs sponsored the Directorial Debut of Mark Ruffalo, Sympathy for Delicious on Wednesday night at The Mondrian Hotel Skybar.

It was a star studded event with Mark Ruffalo and Orlando Bloom attending.

I attended with a friend of mine from Sydney, Cleo Glyde who used to be the Fashion Editor at Marie Claire in NYC.

We both sported our YOU by crocs and brushed shoulders with the stars! I kept it simple with short long tailored “men’s” trousers paired with a sparkling top and a shiny sporty jacket that completed my event look – not too dressy, not too casual, just right.

It was a warm evening so it was fun being outside on the pool deck watching over the shimmering lights of LA.

All in all a great night and worth the drive to Hollywood:)

Always smiling!

A Day at MOCA in LA

April 22, 2011

On the weekend I visited the MOCA Rodarte Exhibition featuring the intricate costumes from Black Swan. The exhibition was innovative with lighting playing a big role in the presentation. The affects of the combined fabrics and materials was impressive and inspirational.

Photographed by: Autumn Dewilde

The MOCA is a cool building at the Pacific Design Center Campus in Los Angeles and on a hot day the fountain outside is a welcome relief as the spray mists across the quadrant.
I wore one of my favorite multi-paneled crocheted dresses with the Pink Lauralou wedges and felt comfortable, casual and chic all at the same time!
LA is a wonderfully cultural city and it was my first time at this MOCA location (there are 3 in LA). Here’s to heels you can walk through galleries in ☺

Always smiling!
